The Crown is enthroned on the Strandkai with 60m height and is literally so close to the sky. With its unique view of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, the freestanding penthouse staircase meanders figuratively through the cloud cover.
PASCH is responsible for the floor plan design of this project's 73 residential units and two penthouses, and for the design and planning of the three interior styles: PURE, COCO and SILK. In addition to the individual washbasins and on-site built-ins, all optionally available furniture such as kitchens, wall units or closets were also custom-designed and planned for each apartment type in the three interior styles.

"The correspondence between the exterior and the interior is what one must harmonize."
ARMIN PANAHI
As interior designers, the PASCH team designed all the floor plans for The CROWN and developed three luxurious furnishing lines that highlight the uniqueness of the property: PURE, COCO, and SILK.
INSPIRATION
Simplicity can be highly sophisticated - just like PURE. Straight lines and clean shapes exude complete calm and harmony. Upon closer inspection, one notices the many details: a meticulously crafted color palette of taupe, greige, and beige tones. Intriguingly arranged wall and floor coverings made of fine stoneware. This style is excitingly understated.
"PURE is undoubtedly the most calming of the three styles. As the name suggests, the design is characterized by monolithic-looking spaces and straight lines. PURE represents modern purism, which has served as both the guiding principle and the inspiration for its name."
With this style, simplicity and intricacy seamlessly come together: the accent tiles in the showers were arranged into a custom-designed tile pattern that offers a modern and minimalist interpretation of natural stone walls.
For the different floor plan types, PASCH designed and planned custom-built washbasins. The upper areas feature monolithic geometries, while additional storage space is provided in the lower section.
For the project, PASCH designed custom-built furniture for each of the 75 apartments—available in the color tones CLAY, STONE, or TAUPE - offering a range of shades to suit personal aesthetics
INTERIOR STYLE PURE
Light, warm tones, premium materials, and a clean design - PURE embodies luxury in a discreet, understated yet confident way. Classic gray, brushed stainless steel, and the concrete aesthetics of Marazzi's Grande Concrete Look give the style a striking urban flair. Sleek, straight shapes define the PURE kitchen, complemented only by the finest kitchen tools - naturally matched with cool stainless steel fronts.
The beauty of this style is its flexibility: puristic design can allow for standout highlights in lighting and tableware - or everything can stay perfectly tone-on-tone. In the bathroom, fixtures and accessories take center stage. They share the same design language as Antonio Lupi's impressive freestanding bathtub, completing the refined and inviting overall aesthetic.
Strong contrasts exude elegance and allure - just like COCO. The apartments radiate an international sense of luxury, with a touch of Hollywood glamour.
"The idea for the name COCO was inspired by the brown-and-white contrast of a coconut. However, the name was intentionally shortened to COCO, as a bold black-and-white contrast is also a hallmark of Chanel's style."
Contrasts are the key element of this second style. The triad of wood, stone, and metal is clearly defined and consistently featured.
INTERIOR STYLE COCO
Inspired by its namesake, the COCO design style guides the eye through striking contrasts. Dark fine stoneware tiles in a gray marble look feature delicate white veining. The furniture, made from dark brown stained oak, also uses the visible wood grain as a key design element. The sophisticated and expressive overall impression is enhanced by carefully placed accents: individual elements are designed with white surfaces, and the fixtures and details in a brushed gold tone emphasize the luxurious effect of the COCO design line.
Style icons have always had that certain something - and so does COCO. Here, classic elegance pairs with a touch of extravagance: golden fixtures meet minimalist high-tech kitchen appliances. Who can resist?
Sometimes, a little extra is just right. The golden fixtures, towel holders, and door handles in a reduced, modern design create a refined yet incredibly relaxed look alongside the exquisite Italian tiles in intricate marble patterns of white and gray.
Silky delicate colors, noble materials, straight lines, and a wonderful interplay of leather, terrazzo, glass, and wood - together, they create the almost magical atmosphere of SILK.
PASCH designed the geometries of the custom washbasins uniformly for all the apartments, while the different materials give each interior style its unique character.
PASCH IN INTERVIEW
"SILK is an architectural style defined by its straight lines. The color palette is composed of natural gray tones, complemented by soft, earthy nuances. An essential contrast is created here more by the different materials.
Additionally, SILK features metal accents, in this case, bronze, which can be found in the furniture and the frames of the built-in furniture."
The interior design style SILK is a tribute to the world of the silkworm - a creature whose delicate threads have inspired human culture for millennia.
The silkworm, small and unremarkable, creates with seemingly effortless ease a material that is both robust and infinitely soft, a masterpiece of nature.
INTERIOR STYLE SILK
The delicate, noble design of the SILK line exudes tranquility and harmony. The materials are closely coordinated and move within a subtle color spectrum. Contrasts are created more through the materiality than the play of colors. For example, the light terrazzo tiles for walls and floors or as washbasins are matched with the oak surfaces of the cabinets and built-in furniture. The gray of the stone and the pale oak tones are complemented by elegant bronze for fixtures, door handles, and other accessories.
Warm tones, subtle yet intriguing patterns, and surfaces create an extraordinary atmosphere in SILK. Everything here is special, yet understated. This magical formula is also reflected in the selection of furniture and kitchen accessories.
Elegant, luxurious, like a spa, yet much more beautiful and personal. In SILK, no accessory is just an accessory - everything is part of a greater whole. This dream bathroom invites a relaxed start and a soothing end to the day.
For the exclusive SILK penthouse at The Crown, PASCH has created a custom luxury spiral staircase that transforms the open gallery in front of the impressive glass façade into another architectural highlight.
With its unique sightline to the Elbphilharmonie, the freestanding penthouse staircase spirals majestically through the cloud cover like a work of art.
